Obituary

Gerald M Shoemaker, 92 years, of Peebles, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center, Seaman, Ohio.
Gerald was born in Peebles, Ohio, on December 30, 1927, the son of the late Marcus and Venus (Peterson) Shoemaker. In addition to farming his entire life, he retired from Adams Rural Electric after 44 years of service. Gerald was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ and of the Masonic Lodge, #581.
Besides his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene (Markins) Shoemaker, who passed away in 2004. He was also preceded by a brother, Luther “Carroll” Shoemaker, and by two granddaughters, Keri Dawn Shoemaker and Amy Darlene Smalley. Gerald is survived by three sons, Neil (Colleen) Shoemaker, of Winchester; Owen (Margie) Shoemaker, of Peebles; and Steve (Lana) Shoemaker, of Bainbridge; and two daughters, Sandy (Jeff) Ryan, of Sinking Spring; and Linda (Bruce) Christman, of Winchester; and a special friend, Joan Alder, of Peebles. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service to be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at 2:00 PM, at the Peebles Church of Christ. The service will be officiated by Bill Christman and Jason Bohl.

I will never forget Gerald. He became my buddy on Sunday mornings. Our conversations were always enjoyable and this was especially true when I found out that he loved Bluegrass Gospel as much as I did. I always looked forward to my visit with him.
