    Ethel M Baker

    January 1, 1935 - April 20, 2020

Ethel (Raines) Baker, 85, of Blue Creek, Ohio, went peacefully home to our heavenly Father on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the Monarch Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Seaman, Ohio. Ethel was born on January 1, 1935, in Seaman, Ohio, to the late Walker Raines and Belva (Owens) Raines of Seaman, Ohio. Ethel was a member of The Gospel Lighthouse Chapel, in Blue Creek, Ohio. She loved attending services, celebrating Christ and enjoyed her church family. As a young woman Ethel attended Seaman High School. She was the proud, loving mother of three boys and a daughter. For over 20 years she worked at Robert Shaw in Hillsboro, OH working the assembly line. Being a woman who challenged herself to succeed, she obtained her GED and took extra schooling to become Robert Shaw's first female set-up foreman. Besides the factory, many may remember Ethel from Seller's Orchard in Marshall, OH. For over 45 years she worked beside her special friend Edward (Eddie) Sellers. There, she not only worked the orchard, she made many friends with customers. She was a friend to many with her wonderful smile, gift of listening and encouraging words. Ethel loved her family, fishing, gardening, her flowers, crochet and was a talented illustrator sketching many family portraits. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her siblings Mable (Willford) Vance; Edgar (Bernice) Raines; Hazel (Russell) Kelley; John (Mariam) Raines; Von Raines; Maggie Raines; Roy (Bettie) Raines; Homer (Ruth) Raines; Curtis Raines; brother-in-law LD Doyle and special friend Edward Sellers. She is survived by three sons, David (Tina) Baker, of Blue Creek, Ohio; Keith (Jennifer) Baker, of Elmville, Ohio; Dennis (Debbie) Baker, of Seaman, Ohio; and a daughter, Peggy Baker, of Columbia City, Indiana. Ethel will be missed by her ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind siblings and spouses, including Earl (Betty) Raines; Nettie Raines; Darlene Doyle and Josephine (Dan) Wilmoth. Graveside funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Dennis Hayslip officiating, with burial following at the Tranquility Cemetery. The family is grateful for all thoughts and prayers, but with social distancing in effect, requests everyone's kindness and cooperation. The family would like to thank Monarch Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Hospice of Hope, and the doctors and nurses. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Hope, either online at hospiceofhope.com, or by mail to 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Kentucky 41056. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel. Please visit us at www.wallacethompsonfuneralhomes.com to sign our online guestbook.
