Wilma Jane Litteral

Wilma Jane Litteral, 87 years of age, of Peebles, Ohio, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, surrounded by family. Wilma Jane (Myers) Litteral was born February 7, 1939, at the family home on Dry Fork Road near the city of Peebles in Adams County, Ohio, to the late Opal Blanche (Setty) and Harry C. Myers, Sr. Wilma is survived by her son, Ishmael Wayne Litteral (Haley Araiza); grandson Slade Litteral; granddaughters Lileigh Litteral and Adley Litteral; brother John Leonard Myers (Frances Myers); sister Linda Johnson (Ralph Johnson); sister Carolyn Garrett; sister Sylvia Adkins (Jeff Adkins); sister Patricia Matheny; sister Sharon Gardner; brother Burton Myers (Diana Myers); sister-in-law Barb Myers; and sister-in-law Darlene Myers. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, many of whom she considered to be her own "adopted children," and all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal Blanche (Setty) Myers and Harry C. Myers, Sr.; brother Harry Leo Junior Myers (Shirley Myers); brother Franklin D. Myers; brother Thomas B. Myers; brother-in-law Larry Garrett; brother-in-law David Matheny and brother-in-law Charles Gardner. Wilma was also preceded in death by her former husband of many years, Carvel Litteral (known to most of the family as Brother C), with whom she shared a significant portion of her beautiful life. Wilma had written that she and Carvel met through Leonard and Frances Myers. They knew each other about eight years before they got married. They attended church together and normally attended Pentecostal churches. Wilma will always be remembered as a warm and loving soul who had a heart of gold and a fiery spirit. Although she was a woman of many passions, crafts, and talents, what she cared for most was her family and friends, always taking the time to visit and sharing plenty of memories and stories of the happy and full life she had lived. Second only to the love she held for her family was her love for Jesus and her devotion to the Lord. As the second-born child and eldest daughter, she was a tremendous help around the household while growing up, and all of her siblings lovingly thought of her as a second mother. They often joked that she got her love of baby dolls from helping take care of them, even if they did tend to pester and aggravate her from time to time. As life went on, she pursued continuing education courses in the medical field before ultimately deciding that homemaking was her true passion. It was during this time that Wilma was blessed with her son, Ishmael Wayne, whom she loved, adored, and was so very proud of. I'm sure that most of us will always remember her best with her long, flowing hair, usually braided or half back, wearing a modest jean dress, with a cup of red rose hot tea somewhere near her, and a smile on her face. She was a simple woman, happy with the simple things in life because, to her, family, friends, and Jesus were the real treasures. Whether it was the love and admiration she held for family or the tender care she exhibited toward her furry babies, we were all blessed to know her and be wrapped in her love. While she is greatly missed here on earth, she and everyone who went before her are rejoicing together in heaven.
